Hands Free Log Splitter in Action

Welcome

My name is Ken Vander Veen, the inventor of Butter Split, a revolutionary new hands-free wood splitter. In 2006, I had a job converting a large tree stand into a single large firewood pile. I started to split the wood using a standard pull-behind your pickup hydraulic log splitter. After one very long weekend, my back said please STOP! And being too sore to argue, I stopped.

Unfortunately, it didn't take long to discover that what I wanted didn't exist ... so it was either back to the woodpile or over to the drawing board. That decision was easy! So with a sore back and pencil in hand, I designed the first-ever hands-free hydraulic log splitter. Attached it to our Gehl 342 mini excavator and the hands free log splitter was born. It split wood better than I had ever anticipated. The hands free log splitter is designed to work in either a vertical or horizontal position, something not even my back could do ... on a good day! Then we discovered the Butter Split had a dual purpose ... it could safely lift and hold trunks while we performed the initial cutting. The chainsaw blade never touches the ground!

We named the machine Butter Split when my 17 year old son saw me splitting firewood and said, "Dad that splits wood like a hot knife through butter" and in another breath, he was asking if he could take over the controls.
